"In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God". Isaiah 40:3
Welcome to the online home of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, located on Mill Hill Avenue in Bridgeport Connecticut. In this vast wilderness that is the Internet, we are glad that you found us and hope that this website will provide you with information about the Orthodox Faith in general and St. John's in particular. Please take a few moments to browse our pages and look at all the history, resources, and information they contain. Feel free to drop me an email if you would like more information. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! ~ Fr. David Cochran, Pastor
On behalf of myself and our Board of Directors, welcome to St. John's! My heartfelt thanks to our wonderful parishioners for all the love and hard work that has made our St. John's a truly remarkable parish. Come and enjoy our fellowship each and every Sunday and Holy Days throughout the year. We at St. John's welcome everyone to come and participate with us to embrace our beautiful Orthodox religion and heritage. ~ Carol Gabor Feduik, Church President
" We sing praises unto the Lord" Come upstairs to the choir loft on Sunday mornings and join the mixed choir as we sing the responses to the Divine Liturgy. You will feel renewed physically and spiritually! All are welcome to join us for choir rehearsals on Monday evenings at 7pm. Singing praises to the Lord makes the lungs strong, the heart happy, and the soul fulfilled! ~ John Galpin, Music Director
Christ Is Risen! Christos Voskrese!
To all the families who had the courage, dedication, and faith to travel from the Carpathian Mountains of eastern Europe and build a new life here in the United States. That new life here included their desire to come together as Orthodox Christians and build a house of worship where their love of God would continue to grow for generations. It is to the love and hard work of those families, and their children's, children's, children, that this website is dedicated. May God continue to grant us many more blessed years.
